Honeywell Technologies has introduced the deployment of a brand new industrial synthetic intelligence (AI) platform at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos.
Called Forge Plant Cognition, the platform might generate greater than $60 million in annual gross operational benefits when the refinery operates at full capability, in accordance with Honeywell’s announcement on Monday.
It combines NVIDIA’s AI and accelerated computing capabilities with Dell Technologies’ AI infrastructure to enhance refinery throughput, productiveness and profitability, in accordance with an announcement from Honeywell.
Honeywell mentioned preliminary estimates point out that the platform might ship operational benefits exceeding $0.29 per barrel at the refinery. The firm burdened that the projections are based mostly on preliminary knowledge and will not be assured.
AI platform combines real-time knowledge with industrial experience
Forge Plant Cognition is designed to assist refining, petrochemical and liquefied pure gasoline (LNG) operators enhance the efficiency of current belongings by figuring out operational constraints, anticipating issues and translating knowledge into actions that enhance plant operations.
- Built on Honeywell’s Forge Cognition platform, the answer combines industrial automation, course of expertise experience and AI capabilities to assist operational decision-making.
- Unlike standard AI options that primarily analyse knowledge and generate suggestions, the platform combines real-time working knowledge, engineering information, trusted calculations and physics-based fashions to assist operators enhance plant efficiency.
Honeywell mentioned the deployment at the Dangote Refinery additionally goals to strengthen the capabilities of native engineering and operations groups.
- “Industrial plants are among the most complex operating environments in the world, with enormous potential to realize greater performance and value using digital technologies and connected solutions,” mentioned Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell Technologies UOP.
Honeywell’s position in Dangote’s enlargement plans
Honeywell’s partnership with Dangote Industries covers each the enlargement of its Nigerian refinery and the group’s plans to develop refining capability elsewhere in Africa.
In November 2025, Dangote Industries partnered with Honeywell to support the expansion of its Lagos refinery from its current nameplate capability of 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028.
Honeywell’s work with Dangote additionally extends past Nigeria. In September 2026, Dangote selected Honeywell Technologies to provide engineering services, licensing and gear for its deliberate 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Lamu County, Kenya.
