Police in Ebonyi yesterday confirmed one individual useless and three others injured following an alleged assault on the convoy of a Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Assembly candidate.
Police spokesman SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed this in Abakaliki with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).Ukandu mentioned the incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Thursday at Amaezekwe group in Ezza South native authorities space of the state.
He mentioned the command obtained a misery name reporting a disturbance in the neighborhood and instantly dispatched operatives to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the operatives discovered 4 people with gunshot wounds and a burnt automobile.
“One of the victims was confirmed dead at the hospital, while the three others are receiving medical treatment,” he mentioned.
Meanwhile, the NDC candidate for Ezza South Constituency within the state, Mr Offia-Nwali, mentioned suspected political thugs attacked his motorcade and set his Toyota Hilux automobile ablaze.
In a press release issued to newsmen in Abakaliki, Offia-Nwali mentioned he and members of his entourage escaped unharmed through the incident.
He expressed sympathy with these affected by the assault and urged youths within the state to not enable themselves for use by politicians to pursue private ambitions.
“No political ambition is worth the life of any young person,” he mentioned.
