Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has mentioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited an economic system “tottering on the brink of collapse”.
Mutfwang, who said this on Monday in the course of the formal inauguration of the APC marketing campaign council in Jos, mentioned the Tinubu administration inherited a rustic that would not service its exterior money owed, whereas the Federal Government had resorted to printing cash to handle the economic system.
“Where did President Tinubu meet Nigeria in 2023? He met Nigeria tottering on the brink of collapse; Nigeria that could not service its external debts; Nigeria that would not even allow businesses outside the country to take their proceeds back home.”
“And that is why some international airlines stopped flying to Nigeria, because they could not get the dollars to take back their money. Our external reserve was down to just a little over $3 billion, from the over $40 billion it had accumulated for decades. Today, by the grace of God, we have a healthy external reserve of over $50 billion,” the governor mentioned.
Mutfwang mentioned Nigerians needed to spend days on the queue to get petrol, saying that at some extent the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari was clueless.
He added, “Today, by the grace of God, we’ve solved one aspect of the equation. Today gas is offered. It will not be low cost however it’s out there.
“Those of us who’re of my age bracket or little beneath will bear in mind the instances after we spent days in petrol stations queuing for gas that we might hardly get. Part of the issue of the Buhari regime is that they bought to a degree that they didn’t know what to do, in order that they offered our future crude. And at present we’re paying that debt. And so we can’t count on issues to easily change in a single day.
“I’m assured that come January 16, 2027, by the grace of God, Plateau State will return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a powerful victory. And that two weeks later, the folks of Plateau will renew their mandate for us to proceed on the great journey we’ve began.
“I want to urge you to go back home. It is time to go back home. Mobilise your own community. Mobilise your ward. Mobilise your local government. Mobilise your constituency.”
